Ring Out, Barton!
Allison + Cam
“Ring Out, Barton!” explores the theme of a bright future for Barton Street. Our diorama gives a peek into the Barton neighbourhood’s legacy of community, small business, and the cultivation of green spaces; a microcosm of things that have been and will be again. The smiling character perched at the top of this developed street looks out hopefully to a world beyond, where Barton’s real life apartments, houses, businesses, landmarks, and greenery are ready to receive the supports and innovations that collaborative community care can provide. Bright colours, high contrast shapes, and larger than life elements are a window into both the vitality of the current Barton Village community as well as an excitement for things to come. We want to spark anticipation for the sustainable renewal of this beloved Hamilton neighbourhood, respect for its roots and hope for an even brighter future.
We are an illustration duo who work collaboratively on mixed media and digital projects. We have experience with mural work, digital illustration, basic carpentry, and paper cut design and have worked on a number of window displays and interactive community installations for galleries, events, and private retail across the GTA.

This project is organized by the Barton Village BIA and funded in part by the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario and the City of Hamilton. Thank you to the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario and the Canadian Urban Institute for supporting local communities and revitalizing our main streets.
